Monoalkyl quaternary ammonium salts have good water solubility and are soluble in polar organic solvents. At room temperature, they are colorless or pale yellow liquids or solids and exhibit good chemical stability. They are widely used in bactericides, antistatic agents, fabric softeners, asphalt emulsifiers, leveling agents, and dye additives.
