It is insoluble in water but soluble in various organic solvents. As an organic basic compound, it reacts with acids to form salts and reacts with carbon dioxide in the air. Diamines are mainly used in asphalt emulsifiers, lubricating oil additives, mineral flotation agents, binders, waterproofing agents, and corrosion inhibitors, and also serve as intermediates for the production of corresponding quaternary ammonium salts, with applications in coatings additives and pigment treatment agents.
